Life in NYC is amazing, even though I arrived for the coldest weather yet, I’m so happy to be here.
I’d like to share with you a humbling experience I had this week and I have a feeling you will greatly benefit from it.
I don’t know about you, but when I feel hurt by someone I care about, my first reaction is to shut down. I used to make myself the victim, but several years of working on myself have helped me move pass this stage.
It’s interesting because as I committed to being pure love this week, and as it usually happens, I had the greatest opportunity to show up for love… (the Universe has a good sense of humor.)
Without going into too many details (I will share the full story some day), last year I experienced deception and rejection from a woman whom I fully trusted.
This happened all because I didn’t agree to an invitation that she presented to me. Basically it was I either accepted or I was out.
Now, my “Good Girl” was so afraid of being rejected, because she knew that if I said “no” to this woman things would shift in our relationship. On the other hand, my “Wild Woman” who is all about self honoring could not agree to something that didn’t feel honoring of herself.
Bottom line is that I ended up saying no, as this was my truth and because of that I was rejected.
Through this experience though I gained such a deeper level of empowerment as I chose to honor my “no” instead of agreeing out of fear.
This week I had the opportunity to reconnect with this woman and my first reaction was to completely freak out.
The reason why this was a very humbling experience is because it took a call with my coach to fully realize that I had the biggest opportunity, to be love. To love her and love me unconditionally….
By not allowing myself to love her, and instead, being reactive and defensive towards her, I was not being true to who I am so I was betraying myself.
And here’s the biggest gift, what I learned from this experience is that by loving her I gave myself the gift to follow through my commitment for this week, which is to be pure love.
How powerful is that?
Now, tell me have you ever found yourself in a situation like this before? What was your first reaction and what did you do?
I’d love to invite you to share with me by commenting below.
This is very powerful stuff, most of us keep this silent. We either make ourselves wrong for it or we choose to stay in resentment.
What we don’t realize is that when we shy away from looking at these pieces and don’t work on them or even speak about them, we are playing against ourselves and ultimately it will affect every area of our lives.
If you know that you desire to receive support in exploring this at a deeper level in your life at this time, I’ve opened my calendar to have a conversation with you and explore that possibility together.
