If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that I teach women to be empowered and confident in their feminine so they can live their beauty unapologetically in the world.
But what you might not know is that today is not that day.
Why?
Because my country, Argentina is playing tonight to qualify for the finals in World Cup soccer.
That makes me happy.
Since arriving in Paris, Argentina’s played three times already. (And won each time!)
While we were out shopping and exploring, I noticed that the game was on TV in a tiny Lebanese restaurant, just across from the flower shop where my friend Robyn and I had just bought bouquets for our apartment. This was not one of the fanciest places in Paris, but the owners were warm and friendly. I happened to be carrying my Argentinian soccer shirt in my purse, just in case I found a place to watch the game. When I put it on, they invited us to join them.
Their interest in the game was different from mine: they were gambling. I was cheering for national pride.But it didn’t matter. Our competitive spirits brought us together, and we created a small but mighty Argentinian cheering section in the heart of Paris.
Our enthusiasm was contagious. Even Robyn – an American who knows nothing about the sport – began cheering for my home country.
Here’s something else you might not know about me: The real spice comes out when I watch soccer and I become absorbed in the game. With every play, I shout, cheer, or curse depending on Argentina’s performance.
My new gambler friends seemed to love it, because they kept feeding me delicious Lebanese food throughout the match.
Why am I telling you this?
Beauty comes in different forms and shapes and ways of being.
Even when I’m wearing my Argentina soccer shirt, and cursing at the TV when we miss a goal, I feel beautiful.
My passion makes me feel beautiful.
My competitive spirit makes me feel beautiful.
And isn’t that what unapologetic beauty really is, anyway?
